Maureen Doren, the Transbank executive in charge of leading the new data analytics division

Transbank underwent important transformations in mid-March, creating a new Data & Analytics division that reports directly to the company's Chief Executive Officer, Patricio Santelices.

Executive Maureen Doren was chosen to lead the unit, which has an important mission: managing the company's data and numbers to articulate business strategy. Doren has been with Transbank since November 2019 and has extensive professional experience, including over eight years in different positions at Banco Bci and before that at other companies like Entel.

In her new division-leading role, Maureen Doren now oversees the Data Governance and Artificial Intelligence department, the Analytics & Go To Market office and the Data Structure office.

Transbank insiders say that her mission is relevant to the business organization as data has become the new “gold" of the financial industry. To that end, the division focuses on consolidating Transbank as a data-driven company and managing the strategic use of corporate data in keeping with the regulatory framework, current legislation and compliance policies. Transbank is interested in expanding its commercial offering for current and potential customers to include new products and services focused on data consolidation, research and analysis.

Assuming it will lose market share as new competitors emerge in the payment methods business, Transbank’s goal is to maintain leadership as an acquirer. Thus, this new division is meant to adapt "to this new era in the payments industry and achieve the major goal of maintaining leadership in Chile and making it scalable to the region."

Under Doren, the new division "is conceived as a new business unit to offer products based on data processing and analysis. Internally, it will provide company-wide support by harnessing insights to generate customized solutions to optimize performance in the different areas," said Transbank.

In recent years, Transbank has evolved from a financial services company to a technology and digital company. For example, first-quarter revenue from value-added services was up 105% compared to 2022, the highest percentage increase of any business unit. This line of business already represents nearly 5% of Transbank's revenue for the period. Cornerstones

Doren's team is comprised of individuals with different professional backgrounds. They focus on identifying business opportunities; anticipating trends and issues; developing new commercial offerings for affiliated merchants; and delivering customized services to customers. Building on these cornerstones, the efforts Maureen Doren is leading focus on continued progress toward objective decision-making, greater precision in strategic planning and expanding the commercial offering based on data collection and accurate market data analysis.
